More pictures of da house

So I was in a big hurry this morning and just loaded a bunch of random pictures of the house. We had some friends come over last night and we decided to take a night off and go to Iggy's with them. We are actually their new neighbors! Brian and Deasha ROCK! :D
Honestly I have no idea why I took this picture... haha here is the fire place with a lot of junk around it and the primed walls... Oops! I "accidently" tripped over the carpet and half of it came up! Look at those floors... SCORE! My mom is pretty much awesome. That border was a beast! She was actually balancing one foot on the ladder, the other foot on the banister and just scraping the crap out of the glue. I hope no one in my family dies in the name of wallpaper removal... My little brother was awesome! This was the 14 hour day he spent with me working on this horrendous room! We were pretty much ready to lock ourselves in the closet so we didn't have to look at the mustard yellow any more! :O I thought the mustard yellow was just in the closet like the pink was only in the master bedroom... but much to our dismay when we removed the wall paper, that beautiful color was everywhere... *shutters* We would clean up multiple times because we couldn't even move around! That garbage bag was full of wallpaper from just the hall My hubby building me a pantry. The shelves were N-A-S-T-Y and ghetto. Notice the very heavy draperies and floral wallpaper in the background. They are NO MORE! (that curtain rod left holes in the walls so big you could fit your finger in!) Goodbye lace curtains and floral wallpaper... you will be missed...?

The view. I can't wait for the sumer!!

"My fingers hurrrt..." "Well your back is gonna hurt 'cause you just pulled landscaping duty!!"

Well it has been officially one week since we got the keys and we have yet to move in... Still! We grossly underestimated the wallpaper in this place! That is all we have been doing every night after work and all day on our days off. We have been removing wallpaper, glue from the walls, spackle holes, sand, priming, and painting. I have spent 12 and 14 hours the last two days there and man oh man am I tired! Every part of my body hurts... I think I went into a slight coma last night.
But its starting to feel like home! We get to paint the colors we want and do the finishes we want. We even get to put the smoke detectors we want! ;D (the home came without a SINGLE smoke detector!) My camera battery died and I cant find my charger, so here are a few pictures I got before it croaked. I will post more when I figure out how to get pictures off my phone (make Heath do it) . Well, I'm off for another 8 or so hour day! Tootles!

The most groovy wallpaper in the house

Sort of after. That wallpaper just fell off, I wish it was all that easy! (it already looks better!!)

Signed Our Lives Away!

Well its official, we signed our lives away. We are HOME OWNERS!! To celebarate we went to Sill's Cafe before we went to the title company and I was so nervous I could hardly eat my breakfast such a waste if a deeeelicious breakfast! We signed a stack of papers as big as a collage text book and my signature definately changed towards the end... I should be a doctor based on my signature alone. Yeeehaw we are so excited! Let the home improvement projects BEGIN!

Right before we were about to go and sign all the papers. I think I was ready to throw up! :) (from excitement... and nerves)

Its a done deal!

So literally after my post yesterday 3 hours later I got a call that we are closing FRIDAY! YAHOO!!! :D We wont get to move in until Monday the 20th, but we are so excited to have an end in sight. My poor parents will finally have thier garage and office space back! Nicole and Brian are moving back from Hawai'i next Thursday the 24th and we planned on them staying with us for a while and I'm just so glad this all worked out! :) :) :)

Here is a little bit about our place. It is a Midcentury modern home build in 1965 and its on the east bench in Kaysville. 3 bedrooms 2 baths and an unfinished basement for room to grow. Its got a great living room with a fireplace and a SUNroom! (I will post pictures soon when we get into the house) And this place has got KILLER views! It feels like you could reach up and touch the mountains... and you can see the Antelope Island perfectly! I bet sunsets look amazing! Cant wait to see our first one :)
Is it so weird to say I'm absolutely excited to remove all the wallpaper (so much wallpaper...) from that place? I can't wait to make it our own. Most everything in this house is a original aside from wiring and plumbing and all that (thank goodness, because I'm not up for that kind of a project). There is, from what we could see, beautiful hardwood floors (score!) under all the carpet. And These people loved carpet (and wallpaper) because its everywhere... dining room, kitchen (yuck), and bathrooms (double yuck)! But this way we can customize the house to exactly how we want.
We are so excited!

That's all for now

P.S. as soon as we get into the house I will post pictures of the wedding and all that... :)

Anticipation...

We are just waiting for the underwriters to give the final OK to finish up the purchase. It feels like it has been months (2 weeks...) but I swear when you really want something it takes forever to get here! :P

*Sigh...* Patience young grasshopper :)

Welcome!

Welcome to our blog! I have decided to jump on the band wagon, and boy am I excited. I enjoy reading others and I hope you enjoy ours! Here is just a little about us since we got married.

Heath and I have been together for 5 years in May. We got married on May 22, 2010 at the Chantilly Mansion and are so excited to be celebrate our one year wedding anniversary in a few months! We went to Cancun Mexico for our honeymoon (thanks to Heath's mother and step father and their time-share) and chilled on the beach for 8 days... it was amazing! Heath works for Discount Tire part time while attending Weber State University full time. I currently work for America First Credit Union full time and love my job (most of the time). In December we decided to add to our little family and get a puppy! Her name is Olive and she is a Boston Terrier. She has a Boston Terrier cousin named Beamer and he is the reason we decided to get that breed. In December we also decided to visit one of my Bestest friends Nicole Hooper (known as Pookie to us) in MAUI!! And OH, was it amazing! She and her Fiance were the best tour guides/transportation/hotel in the world! What a great choice to move there for a bit so we could come and visit! (I will post pictures a little later). And now we are on to the next stage in life! We are currently under contract for our first home! Yahoo!! It is in East Kaysville and we got it for a STEAL! Which is why I started this blog. To document all the wallpaper removal and carpet ripping (and burning). I love before and after shows and I hope our home can be a good "after" product! Now we are just playing the waiting game (underwriters... psssh! They will thake their sweet and merry time because they dont have to live in their parents office for a month...) hopefully we can get into our GROOVY house soon!

Thats all for now :)
